Do I need to get a solicitor to witness my Deed Poll? - UK Deed Poll Office

Do I need to get a solicitor to witness my Deed Poll?

Usually you will not have to have a solicitor to witness your Deed Poll.  In some circumstances, however, you will need a solicitor to witness your Deed Poll, or “certify” it, if it has already been signed, dated and witnessed.  For instance, if you are a UK national and are currently living abroad, or if you are getting married abroad, you may need a solicitor to witness or certify your Deed Poll.  For more information on this topic, please go to the Deed Poll Information list at the top left of this page and click on “Certified/Legalised/Duplicate Copies”.
